IonHance MS-Grade Mobile Phase Additives and Buffers Maximize data quality with high-purity modifiers and buffers

Improving analyte retentivity and peak shape in liquid chromatography (LC) is critical, and mobile-phase additives (i.e., strong acids or buffers) are a common way to do just that. MS applications specifically require high purity mobile-phase additives to reduce background contribution and ensure data quality.

IonHance modifiers can be used for LC and LC-MS techniques, such as reversed-phase separations of proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, and small molecules. Purified to achieve low metal content and high-quality standards, IonHance modifiers can improve the sensitivity, retentivity, and peak shape of even the toughest separations.

§  Improve peak shape, MS signal, and adduct formation

§  Manufactured and tested to ensure the lowest metal content

§  Designed for a variety of applications including small molecule, proteins, and oligonucleotides

Better MS signal, optical peak shape and retention

IonHance Difluoroacetic Acid is purified through a distillation process to improve the quality of the modifiers. After purification, samples are QC tested to ensure metal content <100 ppb by ICP-MS and purity ≥98% by GC. IonHance DFA is the first available MS-grade DFA that offers high purity and low salt adducts. With IonHance, your lab can achieve an improved MS signal over TFA and improved optical peak shape and retention over FA.

O-RING FLCB ORH904

The "O-RING FLCB ORH904" is a specific replacement o-ring for certain filtration equipment, likely a Pall product, designed for use in static sealing applications. The "FLCB" likely refers to a "flat-end cartridge" with no internal springs, and the "ORH904" is an internal code that identifies the specific o-ring type, likely indicating its dimensions and material composition.

  • Function: It is a sealing component, a mechanical gasket in the shape of a loop with a round cross-section, designed to be compressed between two surfaces to prevent the leakage of liquids or gases.
  • Application: It is used in a static sealing scenario for a filter or cartridge. "FLCB" likely stands for "flat-end" or "flat-cap" which refers to the filter cartridge's end cap configuration.
  • Identification: The code "ORH904" is an internal part number that specifies the o-ring's dimensions and material, which are crucial for proper sealing and function. Without a specific product datasheet, the exact dimensions and material (like FKM or Viton®) are not explicitly stated, but the code points to a specific type of o-ring for that application.
  • Supplier: It is offered by Pall Corporation, a company that manufactures filtration products and components.

GPC Columns Organic-and aqueous-based size separations

Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is a chromatographic technique that separates molecules based on their relative size in solution and is often used by scientists analyzing polymers (plastics or other synthetic polymers) using either organic or aqueous eluents. With GPC analysis, you can determine polymer physical properties by characterizing the polymer’s molecular weight distribution.

For more than 50 years, Waters has been the market leader in GPC analysis, providing the highest quality columns and applications support for both organic and aqueous-based size separations. With Waters comprehensive GPC Column selection, you can be certain that the GPC Column or column bank you choose will be compatible with temperature, solvent, and polymer type.

Overview

§  Styragel Columns for organic polymer characterization

§  Ultrahydrogel Columns for aqueous polymer characterization

§  HSPgel Columns for high speed organic GPC analysis

§  HSPgel AQ Columns for high speed aqueous polymer characterization

§  Ultrastyragel Preparative Columns for organic polymer isolation and cleanup

§  Envirogel Columns for high-resolution GPC Cleanup

§  Shodex Columns for organic polymer characterization

Select the right GPC Column for your application

Selecting the right GPC Column for your requirements depends on several factors, including:

Particle size and pore size distribution— Columns are associated with a specific dimension, particle size, and pore volume optimized for polymer classes and polydispersity. Column length and particle size influence resolution. Pore size determines the molecular weight range that you can successfully separate with a Column.

Temperature and solvent compatibility— Many GPC Columns are susceptible to damage if the mobile phase is rapidly changed. To overcome this, Waters GPC Column selection offers commonly used mobile phases to improve bed stability.

Resolution and molecular weight range— Columns can be linked in series to improve resolution or expand the molecular weight separation range. Linear Columns provide faster separations over a wider range of molecular weight, but resolution is limited.

Know the key principle of gel permeation chromatography

In GPC analysis, higher molecular weight molecules elute prior to lower molecular weight molecules. This is because the GPC Column stationary phase (typically a cross-linked gel) has a defined surface pore size. In a well-designed method, smaller molecules can diffuse more deeply into more pores more often. As a result of spending more time diffusing in and out of pores, smaller molecules elute from the GPC Column after larger molecules. Larger molecules are less likely to enter pores and do not spend as much time diffusing in and out of pores within the GPC Column.

SEC Columns Size-based separations of peptides, proteins, nucleic acids, LNPs, and viral vectors

Get unmatched batch-to-batch reproducibility with the wide range of Waters Size-Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) Columns and standards for protein and peptide characterization.

SEC is a powerful technique for aggregate and fragment analysis in the research, development, and manufacturing of biotherapeutic proteins, such as insulin and monoclonal antibodies (mAb). With SEC, also known as gel filtration, you can separate proteins based on their size (hydrodynamic radii versus absolute molecular weight) in solution, with larger sized species eluting before smaller proteins.

The pore size and volume of the SEC particles used in the packed column drives this isocratic based technique, so the column you choose matters. As the molecular weight of the proteins of interest increases, SEC columns with comparatively larger pore size particles are selected.

Overview

§  Gain efficiency with this “platform based” method for proteins ranging from 10,000 to 650,000 Daltons, leveraging MaxPeak Premier Technology coupled with BEH-PEO Particle Technology

§  Minimize non-desired secondary interactions for improved separation reproducibility and results with Ethylene Bridged Hybrid (BEH) SEC particles

§  Ensure reliable column-to-column and batch-to-batch performance with columns quality control tested with relevant peptide, protein, and mAb samples

RapiGest SF Surfactant HPLC WATERS Enhance the quality of in-solution enzymatic protein digestions

Labs around the globe are trying to simplify digestion protocols and improve throughput of analysis. Waters patented RapiGest SF Surfactant was designed with your lab’s efficiency in mind, significantly decreasing proteolytic digestion time, and enabling same-day digestions with mass spectrometry (MS) compatibility.

RapiGest SF radically enhances the speed and percent recovery of protein enzymatic digestions. This patented anionic surfactant accelerates the in-solution production of peptides generated by proteases, such as Trypsin, Asp-N, Glu-C, Lys-C, and PNGase F. Many hydrophobic proteins are resistant to proteolysis because their cleavage sites are inaccessible to endoproteases. RapiGest SF facilitates the digestion of proteolytically resistant proteins and increases the solubility of hydrophobic proteins and peptides. RapiGest SF is an MS-compatible mild protein denaturant that helps solubilize and unfold proteins, making them more amenable to cleavage without denaturing or inhibiting common proteolytic enzymes like conventional denaturants. This enables use of lesser amounts of expensive endoproteases.

Overview

§  Compatible with liquid chromatography (LC) and MS analysis

§  Enables same-day digestions and analysis

§  Minimal or no post-digestion sample preparation is required

§  Improves efficiency and speed of digestion

§  Simplifies digestion protocols and improves throughput of analysis

§  Does not inhibit enzyme activity, unlike conventional denaturants

§  Allows use of lesser amounts of expensive endoproteases because it is not disruptive of endoprotease activity
