CALIBRATION

The family of Triaxial CCLD / IEPE Accelerometer Type 4529 replaces the extremely popular Type 4506 family, using the same flexible mounting accessories to save set-up time and ensure accurate local coordination. Due to their high dynamic range, the accelerometers cover a wide range of applications, including on-road and modal testing. 

To make mounting as flexible as possible, the accelerometer housing has slots to be used in combination with a selection of mounting clips. The clips are attached to the test object with glue or double-sided, adhesive tape. This design allows the accelerometer to be easily fitted to and removed from a number of different objects, for example, during calibration.

Fast, single-measurement noise source location and mapping of moving and stationary objects, using a microphone array at a distance from the test object.

Acoustic beamforming maps noise sources by differentiating sound levels based on the directions they come from. An array of microphones measures the sound field from a position some distance from the test object. Noise maps display sound strength and directivity as colours emanating from the noise sources. Using the camera mounted on the array, the sound maps can be overlaid images and videos for easy relation to the test object.

Because a beamforming system uses a single‐shot measurement where all channels are measured simultaneously, it is a quick noise source location method that optimizes the use of expensive measuring facilities such as anechoic chambers and wind tunnels, and avoids the repetitiveness of traditional single-probe sound intensity methods.

Angle domain analysis software designed for analyzing sound and vibration signals in relation to the cycles of rotating components such as engine crank shafts.

This application takes recorded time data and resamples it so that it can be presented as a function of the rotation angle during the duty cycle of rotating machines, such as car engines. By relating sound and vibration data to the angle of the engine’s crankshaft or flywheel, it is easy to see correlation with the position in the engine’s cycle. This new perspective gives insights into noises that arise from cyclic phenomena, such as the firing of a particular cylinder, or vibrations from a certain point in the engine’s duty cycle.

This angle-domain processing software works with any signal, or combination of signals, that gives the duty cycle period. This can be a tacho pulse signal from a shaft encoder or a magnetic pickup on a flywheel, or a top dead-centre (TDC) signal from a flywheel or test-bed encoder, or from an engine control unit. 

By resampling raw time-data from the time domain so that it corresponds directly to the position of a rotating component, it gives automatic and unequivocal identification of where sound and vibration events occur in an engine’s cycle – instead of corresponding only to the time intervals at which the data was originally measured. For example, during crank-angle analysis on a 4-stroke engine, the data is sampled in relation to the 720° (two complete revolutions) that comprise a complete duty cycle.

Calculates color-coded sound maps on any plane parallel to the measurement plane. This uses any property of the sound-field such as sound pressure, sound intensity or particle velocity. Maintains source-separation capabilities at low frequencies.

An acoustic holography system creates highly accurate sound maps using measurements made at multiple points next to the object. These use a hand-held microphone array, a fixed array, or a robot-controlled microphone array. With this method, many measurement points can be acquired simultaneously – saving time compared to traditional sound intensity methods. 

The resulting maps show sound levels as colours emanating from the object’s sources. These sound maps can be laid over images and videos for easy relation to the test object. The software allows any relevant property of the soundfield to be calculated, such as source strength and directivity. Conformal noise mapping options allow measurements that follow the shape of the object, and using a set of patch measurements, you can then create animated, 3D noise maps on a 3D model of the object. Users can also listen to individual points during transient events.

Hydrophone Type 8106 features a built-in, thick-film, and low noise, 10 dB preamplifier, delivering signal conditioning for transmission over very long distances. This makes Hydrophone Type 8106 suitable for underwater sound measurements down to 1000 meters depth. 

Type 8106 is a wide-range, piezoelectric hydrophone with preamplifier for making absolute sound measurements over the frequency range 7Hz to 80 kHz, featuring an impressive receiving sensitivity of −173dB re 1V/μPa.

The preamplifier provides a 7Hz high-pass filter and an insert-voltage calibration facility, but does not allow the hydrophone to be used as a projector.

An integrated watertight connector allows quick disconnection of the cable and makes replacement and storage very easy.
